Meet the Team

  • Meet Angie - a music agent by profession and a passionate slow fashion pioneer by design. Angie lives in Shrewsbury, the hub of both businesses, but come summer she takes to the road and travels between music festivals with her artists. Being at events outdoors is where she's most at home.

  • Angie had a pretty creative upbringing in Stourbridge in the Black Country, drawing, making clothes and wearing some pretty outrageous outfits. She pretty soon realised that you have the most fun hanging out with creative people which became her main career objective. Somewhere along the line this brought her to event planning which took her into booking the live music programme at a regional venue. Having made many contacts in the music industry it was just a short hop to running her own tour booking agency with partner Graham. The last few years have seen them work with artists from all over the world at major festivals, large scale venues and international events. A brass band and a circus from Rajasthan have been with them from the beginning which is how Angie met Farzana. The pandemic put paid to live music which gave the breathing space for Amber & Ayesha to take flight. Angie's passion for textiles and Farzana's skills as a designer have found a whole new creative outlet in our new venture.

  • Angie gets a real buzz from making interesting things happen and especially when that involves the people around her she loves. Family and friends are the epicentre of her world and she loves to work on projects collaboratively - utilising everyone's skills in a collective way - whether that's organising a photoshoot, a family trip abroad or promoting shows in the local village hall.

Amber & Ayesha is a natural extension of this principle as Angie and Farzana are as close as family and both have distinct skills to bring to the business – and an extended family to call on.

  • Angie heads up sales outlets, marketing and infrastructure development in the UK which is in an exciting phase, but it is just one part of the journey from inception. Thankfully she and Farzana love to pool ideas and thoughts so she's been involved in every stage over the last year. Designing, fabric selection, patterns and finishing, sourcing, assessing standards  have all been part of the collaboration. Add to that their determination to be ethical employers and producers, to be transparent in their operations and part of the slow fashion movement and it's very much a team effort.

  • Meet Farzana - manager of an internationally touring Rajasthani circus, and a brass band, who is now also a clothing designer and retailer. Farzana lives in Jaipur when she's not on tour in Europe with the band and circus. She loves her lifestyle, moving between two continents and enjoying the culture of both.

  • Farzana grew up in Bhilwara, Rajasthan within a large and loving family. She has a degree in Business Management and worked in HR before moving to Jaipur when she married Danish, who was already involved in artist management and touring. Farzana loves travelling with the band and circus and has toured with them to festivals across Europe. The pandemic saw their business come to an abrupt halt which has been extremely hard for the family and musicians alike. Farzana quickly turned her attention to clothing design and Amber & Ayesha is the result of many hours on Facetime with Angie. Making clothes from traditional hand block printed cotton was their starting point, but the principles of paying a fair wage and good working conditions were paramount. Farzana's brilliant solution was to employ two tailors to work in a studio she made in her own home - more on their story soon.

  • Sewing, making clothes and fashion has been Farzana's life long passion. She loves mixing up western styles with more traditional Indian pieces. The hand block printing process is a tradition she respects and making pieces that people will want to own, love and treasure for a long time is a leading principle.

Farzana is the driving force of A&A in Jaipur and responsible for setting up the design and production studio. She is a designer, she sources fabrics, works with the pattern master and manages our small team of tailors. Making kimonos by upcycling old saris is her specialism and this is a highlight of our new collection.

  • Meet Bablu and Firoz, our master tailors and silk sewing experts. Both have worked in the garment industry for many years and we are very lucky to have them on board. They work from the studio at Farzana's home which is safe, bright and comfortable. An electric tuktuk is often the way Bablu returns home at the end of the day.

Our pattern master is also central to our production. Roshithan turns our ideas into card patterns and scales the patterns to the right sizes for a UK market.

  • When we began this project Farzana chose the block printing company carefully. She took a job designing clothing for them and conducting tours in English for tourists so she could understand the factory and how it operated.

We know first hand that workers there are paid fairly and proportionally to their skills and the working environment is safe, light and airy.

When it came to finding a stitching factory that was more complex. The solution is unique to us amongst suppliers. Farzana set up a studio in her home and we have employed the services of a pattern master and two tailors, who are fairly paid and have a light and cool working environment. Our pieces are created without exploitation and we are a good and fair employer.

  • Meet Ayesha, the namesake of our company. Ayesha is Farzana's daughter and a key inspiration to both of us in producing this collection. Ayesha is smart, resourceful and full of ideas. We will be recruiting her to the business as soon as she leaves school!
